Employers FAQ
Find answers to common questions about posting jobs, matching applicants, and managing your hiring process on OFM Jobs.

How hiring works here, in one pass
You post a job or search candidates directly, applications arrive into a pipeline, and you move people through your own stages. Along the way you can require tests, ask screening questions, and message candidates. Postings run for thirty days.
The two decisions that shape everything else are how specific your posting is and whether you test. A vague posting widens the pile and narrows the useful part of it. Testing moves the filtering to before you spend time reading, which is where filtering is cheap.
The three settings worth getting right
Most of the questions below are downstream of these.
- Pay. State the basis, the range and what any commission is a percentage of. Candidates discount vague offers and the good ones self select out.
- Screening questions. The cheapest filter available, and the one most often skipped.
- Required tests. Everyone who reaches your pipeline has then been measured the same way, on the thing you actually care about.
Common questions
How long does a job posting stay live?
Thirty days, then it expires automatically. You can repost it at any point. Reposting also re-runs the automated review, so an edited posting is checked again before it goes back up.
How many jobs can I post at once?
It depends on your plan, and the limit counts live postings rather than total postings ever made. Pricing lists the live job limit for each plan, and an expired posting stops counting against it.
Can I require a test as part of the application?
Yes. Attach it to the job and the application cannot be completed without it, so every candidate who reaches you has been measured the same way.
Can I set a minimum score on a test?
Yes, where a minimum makes sense for that test. Results are marked against the minimum you set at the moment you sent it, so changing your standing bar later does not retroactively re-judge results already in. The result view shows which threshold a given result was measured against.
Can I search for candidates instead of waiting for applications?
Yes. Describe the role in plain language and filter the shortlist by skill, software and language.
Why was my job posting held for review?
Every posting goes through an automated review before going live. If one is held, the reason is shown on the posting itself, and editing and resubmitting sends it back through. Most holds are wording that reads as a breach rather than anything about the role.
Can I message a candidate who has not applied?
Contacting candidates directly is a paid feature. Which plans include it, and how much, is on the pricing page.
What happens to candidates I do not move forward?
You can reject them from the pipeline, which notifies them. Doing it is worth the click: candidates who hear back apply to your next posting.
