What does an OnlyFans video editor do?
An OnlyFans video editor turns raw creator footage into the polished short-form content that feeds the traffic engine, TikToks and Reels for discovery, teaser trailers for promotion, and PPV previews that sell unlocks in the chat. Editing quality directly affects both how many people find a creator and how much existing fans spend.
The workload is recurring and volume-based: cutting long recordings into batches of clips, adding hooks, captions, and trending audio for platform-safe content, formatting per platform's aspect ratios and length limits, and versioning explicit and promotional cuts of the same material. Editors work inside a content calendar, so hitting deadlines matters as much as craft.
Most agencies hire editors on per-video or retainer arrangements rather than hourly, and keep a consistent editor per creator so style stays coherent. Look for portfolios with short-form social work specifically. The pacing and hook discipline of TikTok-style editing is a different skill from long-form YouTube cuts.
What skills should you look for in a video editor?
Every one of these is screenable on OFMJobs with built-in tests and AI scoring, before you ever message a candidate.
Short-form editing
Cutting raw footage into tight sub-60-second clips with a hook in the first two seconds.
Captions & text overlays
Styled, well-timed captions that hold attention with sound off, where most feed viewing happens.
Platform formatting
Delivering correct aspect ratios, lengths, and compliance-safe versions for TikTok, Reels, X, and OnlyFans itself.
Trailer & teaser cuts
Building PPV previews and page trailers that tease enough to sell without giving the content away.
Batch workflow discipline
Processing 15-30 clips a week against a calendar with consistent naming, versioning, and delivery.
Trend awareness
Applying current sounds, formats, and meme structures before they burn out.
Color & audio cleanup
Quick correction passes that make phone footage look and sound professional.
Asset organization
Maintaining tidy project files and raw-footage libraries so any clip can be re-cut or re-versioned fast.
How much does it cost to hire a video editor?
Per video
$10-$50 / clip
Simple short-form clips sit at the low end; multi-scene trailers with heavy captioning at the top. Good for variable volume, but costs scale linearly.
Monthly retainer
Most common$600-$1,500 / mo
A fixed monthly fee for an agreed clip volume, the structure most agencies converge on once posting cadence is stable. Predictable for both sides.
Hourly
$5-$15 / hr
Common for in-house-style editors handling mixed work: clips, trailers, and ad-hoc requests. Requires more oversight of how hours are spent.

Frequently asked questions
Per-video pricing runs $10-$50 depending on complexity, while monthly retainers for a steady clip volume run $600-$1,500. An agency posting daily short-form content for three creators typically spends $800-$2,000 per month on editing. Usually the retainer is the better deal past 20 clips a month.
Short-form social work specifically: strong hooks in the first two seconds, tight pacing, clean caption styling, and platform-native formatting. A great YouTube long-form editor is not automatically a great TikTok editor. Ask for before/after examples of raw phone footage, since that's what creator content actually looks like.
A full-time editor comfortably delivers 15-30 short clips per week, depending on how much captioning and versioning each requires. Trailers and PPV teasers take longer. Budget two to four hours each. If your calendar needs more, split creators across two editors rather than rushing one.
Yes. Make this explicit in your job post before anyone applies. Editors handle explicit raw footage even when the deliverable is a platform-safe clip. Posting on OFMJobs filters for this automatically, since every candidate on the platform already works in the creator economy.
Editor profiles carry portfolios and can be screened with paid test edits from your actual raw footage, the single most predictive hiring signal. AI scoring ranks applicants against your requirements for style, turnaround, and volume before you spend time on interviews.
Start with a retainer freelancer per creator group; it keeps costs matched to volume. Bring editing in-house when you're consistently paying for 60+ clips a month across creators. At that volume a dedicated full-time editor is cheaper and gives you same-day turnaround.
