Keeping Your Accounts Safe When You Hire

What to do before you give someone you hired access to your accounts: passwords, permissions, two factor authentication and reporting.

For employers

What they can reach is your decision

Hiring someone through OFM Jobs connects you with them. It does not give them access to anything. Every account, tool and fan conversation they can reach from here is reachable because you chose to grant it, so the safest time to think about access is before you grant it.

We do not verify identities, and a profile, a test score or a good interview is not a guarantee about a person. The steps below are what agencies who have been burned wish they had done first.

Don't share account passwords

Use each tool's own invite or team feature instead of handing over a login. An invite can be removed on its own. A shared password can only be taken back by changing it, which locks out everyone else who uses it, and until you do, the person still has it.

Give the least access the job needs

Most tools have roles. Start a new hire on the smallest one that lets them do the work, and add to it when the work needs it. A chatter rarely needs payout settings, billing, or the ability to add other users.

  • Check what each role can see and change before you assign it.
  • Keep payout, banking and account recovery settings with the account owner.
  • Review who has access when someone leaves, and remove it the same day.

Turn on two factor authentication

Turn it on for anything that holds money or fan contact: creator platforms, payment accounts, email and messaging apps. Keep the second factor with the account owner, not with the person you hired.

If something goes wrong, report them

Report the person from their candidate panel in your dashboard. We can act on their account on OFM Jobs. We cannot recover what was shared, which is why the steps above matter more than anything we can do afterwards.

Your agreement with the person you hire is between you and them. Our Terms of Service explain what OFM Jobs does and does not do.

Common questions

Does OFM Jobs check the people I hire?

No. Skills tests are measured by the platform, but identities and work history are self declared. Treat access the same way you would with anyone new.

How do I report someone I hired?

Open their candidate panel in your dashboard and choose Report candidate. Reports go to our team for review.
